ABOUT
Hiya! My name is Jonna-Lynn Alonso (pronounced JAH-nuh-LIN uh-LON-zoh)! I’ve been a sweet, proactive, and enthusiastic artist and storyteller since I was a child. As a child of Philippine immigrants balancing a love for creating, funny one-liners, and justice, I’ve made it my life’s mission to uplift underrepresented stories and be a voice for people like me in any medium. My goal is to do what makes me happy, put things I love out into the world, and support and inspire people with similar struggles to me to do the same.
Certified Silly!
Even though I pride myself as someone who is loud, sassy, and quirky for their profession, ironically, I grew up very shy, quiet, and awkward (yeah, go figure). Despite that, I don’t let my inhibitions and fears stop me from chasing my dreams. Still a child at heart (and size at a whopping 4 foot, 10 inches), I am unapologetically a weeb. I use outlets like video games, animation/anime, and music not only for entertainment but also for expression. From Sailor Moon to Studio Ghibli to Pokémon to Kingdom Hearts, I found solace in worlds similar yet different from my own, with strong, diverse, and relatable characters and creatures living their truths. Some of my most fulfilling moments are the ones behind the mic, with other creators, and with the people (and animals) I love.
At my core, I’m a pursuer of knowledge. I trained for over 10 years in classical violin, performing in multiple ensembles, competitions, and festivals. Around the same time, I entered the local theatre scene (on-stage, off-stage, and even under!), starting as an actor, technical backstage crew member, and pit musician. I eventually worked my way up to positions like Director, Writer, Music Director, and Stage Manager. I’ve worked on numerous productions including Les Misérables; Hello, Dolly!; Beauty and the Beast; RENT; Hairspray; Radium Girls; Almost, Maine; and Alice in Wonderland. I’ve also worked with several regional theatre companies, such as the 5th Avenue Theatre and Village Theatre.
I’ve traveled and performed all around the United States and the world, from Salt Lake City, UT, to New York City, NY, as well as countries like the Philippines and Germany.
I moved back home to Seattle, WA, USA, to pursue voiceover after graduating Magna Cum Laude with B.S. in Psychology, Education and Social Justice from Western Washington University. I’m currently working on several video games, animations, ADR/dubbing, commercials, audio dramas, narrations, and many more projects as a voice actor, singer, writer, and director.
Wake up, Get up, Get out there!
Alongside voiceover, I love playing video games, watching anime, singing show tunes, reading webcomics, weight lifting, baking, conducting research (as a published author in academic journals), collecting plushies and earrings, critically analyzing media, traveling, and filling my camera roll with pictures of my dogs.
